The Cannonau grape is the most planted red grape in Sardinia, apparently it landed in Sardinia from Spain in the 1400. It presents similar characteristics to other grapes, including the French Grenache and the Spanish Garnacha from which it may come from, however, today is considered a native grape from Sardinia
