Château Pavie Macquin Saint Emilion 2017 Premier Grand Cru Classé

The 2017 Pavie Macquin is a rich, deep and super-expressive wine with remarkable persistence. As always, Pavie Macquin is a potent Saint-Émilion, but the 2017 has terrific energy as well. In 2017, Pavie-Macquin is not as forthcoming in its youth as it can be, and is going to need a few years in bottle to truly come together.

The key moment in the history of the eponymous château Pavie Macquin comes from the famous Albert Macquin (1852-1911).From 1887 Macquin purchased the châteaux of La Serre, Peygenestou (5 hectares), Pavie-Chapus (3.7 hectares), Pavie-Pigasse (5.7 hectares) as well as others, totaling then Château Pavie-Macquin’s approximately 26 hectares.

Description

Tasting Notes from Pinto Wines

Colour Dark red colour
Nose Scents of black cherries, cassis and violet, showing a little more opulence than the aforementioned Saint-Émilion
Palate Sweet and sensual on the entry with blackberry, raspberry, a pinch of white pepper and spice. The tannins here feel very fine and the final half is unapologetically silky smooth in texture, the new oak seamlessly integrated
