Francois Lurton, a pioneer in the development of the land of the Uco Valley, built his bodega Piedra Negra in the heart of 200 hectares of virgin land, applying the experience gained throughout his life in different wine regions of the world.
After lengthy exploration of several regions of Argentina, Francois settled on the arid and rocky Uco Valley, where the composition of the soil resembles the gravel of the Pessac-Leonian appellation, and planted his first vineyard on the semi-desert foothills of the Coldierrier. The Chacayes district, where the first vines were planted, subsequently gave the name to the best wines of François Lurton.
