Pies Negros Artuke Rioja

24.00

Artuke is run by the family of Miguel Blanco, who have been working the land in this Northern part of Rioja Alavesa for over a century. Now, the helm is taken by Miguel’s two sons Arturo and Kike which as you might guess, is where the name ‘Artuke’ is derived from. The aim of the brothers has been this: To create a new and individual wine which still respects the history of the wine region and of their family wine tradition. The result: A thoroughly modern style of Rioja, but not heavily extracted or heavily wooded in style.Made by Bodegas y Viñedos Artuke, the wine Artuke Pies Negros is part of the “Vinos de Pueblo” (village wines) collection.

The winery practices an environmentally friendly viticulture and follows the principles of biodynamic farming in order to get a natural expression of the terroir. Incidentally, the name of this wine (“Pies Negros” means “Black Feet”) refers to the fact that the grapes used to produce it were stomped with bare feet.

Rioja is traditonally the perfect partner for lamb and Pies Negros from Artuke would be no exception.
