Steigler Furmint


Furmint is Hungary’s most prestigious white variety, capable of an ageing potential that of the best Rieslings. In it’s youth Furmint is neutral, mineral, high on acidity. With age it picks up tertiary spices, asian herbs and ginger notes. Food friendly and complex, a wine expert’s dream.
We find Furmints at their optimum balance after at least 4 years, from then on it is only upwards.

Mica schist soil adds a reductive savoury element to the wine that spent 10 months on the lees in 500l Hungarian Quercus Petraea barrels.
