This wine is lively, pleasant and fruity. Lovely citrus flavours on a fine, minerally background. Alain Geoffroy’s vineyard is located on Kimmeridgian limestone with 15-20 years old vines, that has made the mineral-driven wines of Chablis so famous. Making this a very serious wine for its price and a go-to white for summer lunches, big dinner parties, fish, seafood, goats cheese, crunchy salads and filling the wine rack. Nothing little about this Petit-Chablis and without the price of a Grand Cru.
  • This quality wine has classic Marlborough aromas of citrus and limes with elderflower and grapefruit notes. The palate is concentrated with lemon zest, stonefruit and floral flavours filling the mouth. The wine finishes crisp, clean and dry. Perfect as an aperitif or with seafood, chicken, Asian dishes and salads.
  • This is the first wine made by Esporão back in 1985. Label illustrated by António Poppe that changes with every organic vintage. Classic wine style made from estate grown grapes that shows the consistency and the rich, ripe fruit characters which are typical of the best Alentejo red wines. Deep dark red colour with intense spicy aroma of mature red berry fruits with discrete oak complexity. On the palate it is elegant, dense and creamy.

The name ‘Stump Jump’ doesn’t relate to the English game of cricket (jumping over the stumps at the end of the game), nor the breeding of livestock held in the stumps but relates to the significant South Australian invention – the Stump Jump plough. The plough soon became a worldwide implement for ploughing fields because of its ability to ride over stumps and gnarled “mallee” Eucalypt roots and snags, saving valuable time and energy by not stopping the draught horse. Every Stump Jump white of late seems to take the drinker on an interesting journey and this one is no exception. A wonderful fresh vibrant appearance with an equally appealing aroma. Notes of florals, cut grass and limes are obvious but as the wine opens up, more complex secondary notes appear such as green melon rind, passionfruit, lavender, wheat germ, and almond kernel characters. The palate is dry with a moderate level of intensity and ripe fruit characters dominated with Riesling florals and limes; the grassy sweetness and elevated acidity of the Sauvignon Blanc while the Roussanne and Marsanne add an earthy, dry stone fruit element, green almond kernels and a lovely viscous character giving textural richness to the finish. The wine has excellent balance and length of flavour which we see as being an essential element in a great value drink. The Stump Jump is at its best drinking while young, and will continue to develop in the bottle over the next three to five years. It is perfect drinking on a warm summer’s day, and a perfect match for a wide variety of light dishes.

All three varieties play an important role - the Shiraz offers dark plum fruits, mulberries and licorice with plenty of concentration, depth and velvety tannin. The Grenache adds a lovely lusciousness to the wine with raspberry, blueberry and floral notes. Finally, the Mourvédre provides lovely red fruits with a hint of dried herb and importantly, a fine chalky tannin that carries all these characters to a long and wonderfully moreish finish. The fruit weight and silkyness means this wine can be enjoyed now, but it will keep developing over time. This wine screams value, recommended with hard cheeses and red meats.
  • The Kookaburra is a native Australian bird famous for its distinctive laughing call, Chester's young daughters named them 'Laughing Magpies'. The Magpie plumage is black with a stripe of white feathers, representing McLaren Vale's first ever blend combining the (black) Shiraz and its white partner, Viognier. An enticing mix of primary fruit characters entwined with flowers, ginger and stone fruit. A rather dark appearance with a vivid purple hue suggesting a complex dry red. The nose is particularly intense, with peppery spice, hints of fragrant flower and perfume aromas, plus nectarines, apricots, ginger and herbs from the small parcel of viognier that the Shiraz is co-fermented with. On the palate the Shiraz is more dominant. There is some sweeter fruit characters like blackberry, blueberry and boysenberry. The palate is rich and generous and soft silky tannins. Would open 2 hours before serving and use a Decanter when possible. Enjoy this dry red wine from Australia with fillet of beef, dark meat dishes like goulash or the Asian classic Peking duck.
  • Dominated by Carignan, this is a Minervois which will wow the senses and really impress with its value for money. The fruit for the Ramel Grand Cuvee were sourced from the Domaine de la Baquiere Estate, within the heart of the Languedoc Wine Region. From 23 hectares of vineyard on the slopes of the Montagne Noire where the Ramel-Mazard family winemaking dates back to 1726, forming traditional methods of production, with the fruit harvested by hand and each grape variety vinified separately in stainless steel. This is a medium/full bodied with bright ruby edge. Interesting and attractive nose, sweet blackberry, plum notes with a smoky, meaty complexion. Cherry notes too. Medium weight palate with sweet blackberry fruit, mocha and cherry tones. Tannins are grippy but well balanced and the 14% alcohol well integrated. Would suit Duck very well, or slow cooked meats stew style dishes.
  • Delas Frères Ventoux is a red wine blend made with grapes from the south eastern region of the Rhône winegrowing region of France. Delas Frères are one of the most prestigious Rhone wine producers and make superb wines, from a wide selection of appellations, in both the northern and southern Rhône including Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte Rôtie, Condrieu and Côtes-du-Rhône. The company was founded in 1835 when Charles Audibert and Philippe Delas bought Maisons Junique, a 40-year-old winery which they renamed Audibert & Delas. Philippe Delas had two sons, Henri and Florentin. The latter married the daughter of Charles Audibert, further strengthening the bond between the two families. In 1924, the brothers succeeded to the founders and changed the name of the house to Delas Frères. The company grew and in 1981 relocated to the its current premises in Saint Jean de Muzols, a small village located two kilometers north of Tournon in the Saint Joseph appellation. In 1993 Delas Frères became part of the Champagne Louis Roederer group. Delas Frères Ventoux is a blend of Grenache and Syrah grapes which are sourced from the communes of Mazan and Goult from vineyards which stretch out along the left bank of the Rhône river, around the limestone outcrop of the Mount Ventoux. The Grenache grapes are fermented in stainless steel vats with a daily pumping over to allow gentle extraction of the phenolic components. The Syrah is sometimes left on the stems in order to fully express its characteristic fruit aromas. The two components are blended before they wines is matured for 6 to 8 months in Delas’ air-conditioned winery before bottling.

A wine with great structure that is well balanced by a good softness and acidity on the final. Extremely persistent with excellent aging potential. Game, red meats or aged cheese. • This is a wine with great intensity of character. It has an immediate spice dominated nose with clove and baked vanilla pod alongside of spicy red fruit flavours. It warms up to give a slight balsamic note with boysenberry jam and blackberry puree. The palate is textural with medium, yet soft, tannins which helps to keep it all together. A surprising amount of class and concentration for this price point.Just don't forget to decant it or let it breath before hand, or not. Enjoy!
  • Château Musar is located in the Bekaa Valley, in Lebanon. It was created by Gaston Hochar in 1930 when he was only 20 years-old and inspired by Lebanon’s 6,000-year winemaking tradition and his travels in Bordeaux. Serge Hochar, his son, started producing wines at the end of 1950. His brother, Ronald, joined at the beginning of 1960. In 1975, 97% of the production was sold locally. It picked up after the Bristol Wine Fair of 1979 and, in 1990, at the end of the civil war, the export accounted for 97% of the production. The 3rd generation of the Hochar family started joining in 1994 and is still a family-run-business. Musar Jeune White is an unoaked blend of Viognier, Vermentino, Chardonnay from youthful Bekaa Valley vines. Crisp and aromatic, this eclectic blend of French and Italian varieties has its own distinct personality – passionfruit, apples, elderflowers – and a dry, refreshing finish. No need to decant; enjoy chilled (10-12°C) with grilled fish, herb-scented roast chicken, seafood salads and spicy oriental dishes. All their wines are Organic.
  • A thoroughly delightful white Bordeaux, made from a blend of Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Muscadelle. Very aromatic with notes of white peach and fresh garden herbs, highlighted with bright citrus rind and mineral nuances. Easy breazy, this is  lovely go-to summer wine to enjoy as an aperitif or with seafood dishes. YUM!
  • With a very good structure and fine crimson colour, this Bordeaux Supérieur is a really pleasant wine to drink. The merlot dominant variety offers extraordinary fruitiness with mellow tannins resulting in supple wines that are easy to drink. The cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc gives a good structure to the wine. Aromas of tropical fruits and red fruits give a complex bouquet. All these features offer a wine that can be enjoyed with red meats and barbecues.
  • The Banfi Chianti Superiore begins with a very nice aroma of black cherry, plum, a little spice, a little earth and some nice floral notes. Tasting the wine reveals plum, oak, licorice a bit of spice, a nice dense and velvety texture plus dusty tannins = One Terrific Tuscan! Add in good acidity and balance on this medium-bodied wine and you quickly realize this wine is delivering great value for its price. The finish is very nice with good length and features some excellent slightly sour black cherry notes. Try with BBQ-marinated pork ribs, beef and vegetable skewers or T bone steaks. I am a big fan of Tuscan wines specially Banfi, would confidently recommend it.
  • Col di Sasso meaning Stony Hill – the blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese cultivated on the most rocky and impervious slopes of the Banfi estate in Montalcino. A young, but intense wine. The color is ruby red with purple shades. The wine shows intense and fruity scents of black currant, cherry and other red fruits. The structure is soft and magnificently sustained by a good acidity, resulting from the sweet and mellow tannins. The finish is pleasant and with a balanced complexity.
  • This is one of our favourite wine-finds of late! Priorat, a wine region in northeastern Spain, is known for stunning, terraced vineyards and robust red blends that often fetch a pretty penny. An old vine blend of Grenache, Carignan, Syrah, Cabernet and Merlot finished in French and American oak barrels. Notes of red cherry, chocolate define this silky & balanced wine! Lovely with Red meats, blue cheese or Chocolate.
  • Simmonet-Febvre has been producing its wines with traditional methods since 1840. It is the only Maison in Chablis to produce Crémants of Burgundy. A harmoniously balanced wine with fine bubbles, a persistent foam and a wonderful length in the mouth. It is fresh and powerful on the nose with aromas of citrus. Drink this crémant as a chilled aperitif, as it comes or with a liqueur such as crème de cassis, and why not even drink it throughout a whole meal.

  • The Fleur du Cap approach is unconstrained. Using only meticulously selected grapes from the finest vineyards across the Cape Winelands, the winery produces a range of wines that offer diversity of choice and diversity of taste. Essence du Cap is known for exceptional quality and wines that express their true varietal character. The grapes were selected from four different vineyard blocks situated around the Bottelary Hills, which were planted in 1987, 1994, 1996 and 1997. Two of the vineyards are bush vines and the remaining trellised. The soils consist of deep decomposed shale (bush vines) and granite (trellised vines), with good water retention. Yields for the bush vines were 6 to 8 t/ha and the trellised vineyards 10 to 12 t/ha. Supplementary irrigation was given during the latter stages of the season to ensure full ripening. Pest and disease control is implemented according to South African subjective IPW standards. This wine is an ideal accompaniment to grilled lamb and poultry, pork roasts and game fish. It is perfect with classic Cape cuisine like Bobotie and Malay Curries, as well as spicy Mexican food.
  • This very versatile white wine will please you with its slightly honeyed notes, its notes of exotic fruits and white fruits as well as floral notes. On the palate it is very fresh with a very refreshing acidity, a hint of citrus, flavors of exotic fruits and honey as well as a fairly persistent length. It's a charming and unpretentious everyday wine that is most satisfying.  The floral acidity makes it a great summer wine for the deck or a great pairing for light summer fare; Salads and seafood.
  • Stone fruit - check! Mineral - check! Floral - check! This wine is definitely ticking off all the right boxes! The minerality of saline and limestone sit on the tip of the tongue and linger through the entire taste. Light bodied, dry, moderate acidity, and a slightly exaggerated finish noted with blanched almonds and lemon rind bring the sip to an end. Time for another! An instant classic from a classic region! The Alain Gueneau Sancerre "La Guiberte" comes from a small family-owned estate at the Eastern end of France's Loire valley. You'll still find the grape's signature citrus freshness and a slight grassiness, but examples from Sancerre lean more towards restraint, minerality, and elegance. The secret is not only in Northern France's cooler climate, but also in the region's soil — a swathe of ancient clay-calcareous deposits that stretches from England's famous white cliffs of Dover across the channel and into Northern France. Alain and daughter Elisa are the 2nd and 3rd-generation of the Gueneau family to farm this land, three quarters of which is planted to Sauvignon Blanc vines with an average age of about 25 years. Enjoy this delicious, refreshing bottle (well chilled, of course!) now or over the next 3 years.
  • The Le Rime appears pale yellow with green highlights, with intense aromas of green fruit followed by zippy citrus on the nose. • The result of a long history, Burgundy and its wines are known worldwide.  Chardonnay being a native grape to the area, perfectly matches the terroir of Burgundy: poor soils or calcareous marl, perfect exposure but a temperate climate. As a result the sugar content can reach a high level whilst maintaining a balance of fruit and acidity. Thanks to a careful selection, Maison Louis Latour is able to produce a rich and expressive Chardonnay. This wine is intense, powerful and fruity. A complexe wine with a nice aromatic persistence. Food Pairing, aperitif - shellfish - charcuterie - grilled fish

  • The Monte del Fra Valpolicella Classico appears deep ruby red with ripe red fruit accompanied with spice and earthiness on the nose. Touraine is the savvy place to look if you’re after a Sauvignon blanc which combines great value with great flavour. The Loire is Sauvignon Blanc’s homeland. So it’s no surprise that Loire native, Thierry Delaunay, is passionate about the grape. Decades of his family making wine in the region means he has the pick of the crop when it comes to choosing grapes for his wines. He looks for the best grapes from the best pockets of vines in Touraine – and the results speak for themselves. This Sauvignon is seriously refreshing, seriously citrusy, and seriously good value. You’ll find nothing finer to pair with a goat’s cheese tart. And its more restrained flavour profile makes it a perfect party wine. Santé.

  • The TANK No 32 Primitivo Appassimento from Cantine Minini sparkles a wonderful dark red wine. This Italian red inspires with its perfect combination of elegance and power. The bouquet reveals aromas of ripe cherries, juicy plums and dried fruit, especially figs, dates and raisins come to mind. The palate of TANK 32 impresses with its dense and concentrated character. The pleasant and equally discreet residual sweetness gives this red wine a wonderful velvety texture. The long finish of Tank No 32 is carried by delicate notes of nougat and dark chocolate. The Tank No 32 Apassimento is a great accompaniment to strong game dishes with fresh mushrooms and well matured cheeses.
  • De Bortoli Wines is a third generation family wine company, established by Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli in 1928. They emigrated to Australia from their mountain village in the foothills of the Italian Alps, near the historic town of Asolo, and their Italian heritage still drives the way the family makes its wine.Soft, fresh & fruity dry white. Lifted aromas of ripe peach and nectarine complemented with decent lick of oak. The palate is soft with a creamy texture with the most gentlest of acid nuances for a very long finish.

  • Malbec is the main grape in the legendary ‘Black wine of Cahors’. Way before Argentina made the varietal ‘famous’, Malbec – though in this region it is known as Côt or Auxerrois. – was making long-lived wines from Cahors – the 1959 Clos La Coutale is still drinking superbly. Clos La Coutale is a benchmark of the Cahors region and has a history of producing some of the finest and longest-lived wines of the region. Blackcurrants, blackberry's and prune notes followed by a soft and elegant palate that has an enticing note of vanilla. This Clos La Coutale wine is matured in barrels and wooden casks for one year in order to obtain a good balance between tannins and fruit. Organic and true gem at this price point.
  • The Pinot Grigio grapes from this wine come from the Veneto (Pavia region, near Milan) region of Italy, where the Pinot Grigio grape has been cultivated for more than a century. The wine shows apple and pear with hints of white peach and elderflower. Light and refreshing, a mouth-watering partner for salads and seafood, great in the summer.
  • What a wonderfully crisp glass of white wine made from Sauvignon Blanc. The grape that you don't see much in Argentina but offers an excellent wine at the right height. Well, that is a must with this Aires Andinos Sauvignon Blanc, because the vineyards are at a very high altitude in Mendoza. This gives the vines a lot of cooling and that gives a unique taste to this white wine. The aires Andinos winery has invested a lot in recent years and we can taste that. The wines have become purer and riper and as a result have become intensely popular in Argentina. In the glass, this white Aires Andinos Sauvignon Blanc turns pale yellow with green hues. It smells of notes of freshly cut grass, citrus and of course some grapefruit. Just waltz with the glass and we also smell some green asparagus and bell pepper. In the mouth, this Sauvignon Blanc has a fresh feeling on the tongue with light acidity. Lots of fruitiness of apple, lime and grapefruit that lingers in the aftertaste.
  • Bardos Verdejo is a wine made from 100% Verdejo from vineyards that are 20-25 years old, located in Rueda, at more than 700 metres of altitude on stony soils. The harvest is carried out at night, at temperatures below 15ºC. The fermentation is done with local yeasts at a controlled temperature and the wine rests on its lees for at least 4 months, gaining complexity and texture. On the nose, the intense aromas of fruit such as white peach combine with cut grass, citrus, balsamic and mineral notes. In the mouth it has a good volume and persistence, well integrated acidity and a characteristic aniseed aftertaste, typical of the grape. Really a high quality example of this native Spanish variety. Excellent with light bites, starters, salads and white fish. All of the wines by De Bardos are crafted by hand in a fully artisan manner.
  • A quintessential California Zinfandel. Beringer has built a legacy crafting renowned wines from a prized collection of California vineyards, celebrating a remarkable winemaking tradition dating back to 1876 when the Napa winery was founded by Beringer brothers Frederick & Jacob. A Zin that definitely portrays some Classic California ripeness. Ripe blueberries, blackberries, plums, a hint of smoky and mineral characters and a touch perfumed (dried floral notes) on the nose. On the palate you’ll find that smoke and berry ripeness coming through, with a little tangy raspberry adding to a lengthy finish. Medium plus body with a silky mouthfeel, smooth light tannins and luscious acidity. I love Zins with a juicy bacon and smoked cheddar burger or with your favourite pizza. This one should not disappoint!

  • Le Bijou de Sophie Valrose is named after a lady who worked in the Languedoc vineyards during the late 19th century and became something of a local hero. At the time, it was largely women who worked in the vineyards; pruning and harvesting the vines. Sadly these women were often mistreated, overworked and underpaid. Sophie fought for women’s rights and drastically improved the conditions for her fellow female workers in the vineyard in which she worked. Bijou is a tribute to her memory and we share her story on the back of every bottle sold. The grapes are sourced from low-yielding old vines on the sloping hillsides of various vineyards in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of southern France. The areas are made up of old volcanic soils composed of 70% schist, which helps create high-quality grapes with great structure and freshness.Bijou’s flagship wine, a beautiful pale salmon coloured rosé. Elegantly fragrant, with aromas of wild strawberries, citrus and delicate floral notes. Round and creamy on the palate, with ripe red berry flavours and a soft minerality. Elegant and balanced with refreshing acidity and a silky smooth finish. The perfect accompaniment to canapés, white meats, fish and salads.
  • In 1988, A Danish-American couple, Hans and Carrie Jorgensen set out in a sailboat to find a place to start a family and plant vines. They came to Alentejo and they found “Cortes de Cima.” It was just a barren land and a few abandoned buildings. But Carrie, of Portuguese ancestry, said the landscape reminded her of California, her homeland. Hans, who was born in Denmark, fell in love with the Mediterranean sun. Their first wine was "born" in 1998 and the many successful vintages which followed as well as their pioneering spirit have put Cortes de Cima on the map.  The main grape used is Aragonez (Spanish call it Tempranillo). It has a overt nose of fresh cherries, red plum, dark fruits and a lick of black liquorice. It is vibrant and well-rounded on the palate with good acidity and body. There is so much to love about this wine. One of my favourites enjoy!!
  • If you were ever sceptical about Organic wines, you have to give this one a try! This wine is Artisanal, Organic, Biodynamic, unfined and unfiltered. All with the aim to do as little intervention as possible and to let the Terroir speak for itself. Eric Texier Chat Fou natural red wine is a coupage of Grenache Tinta, Clairette and Marsanne,  from the well known region of Côtes du Rhône.Eric Texier is a vigneron from Brézème, a municipality in the northern area of the Rhone Valley. Texier worked in nuclear engineering but switched to the world of wine in the early 1990s. He practices minimal viticulture and oenology, and attaches special importance to the management of the soils of his vineyards. The result is this superb wine a true example of natural wines and at the forefront of this movement. Eric is not a follower of fashion and speaks vehemently against those who label themselves as natural when it is used as a marketing tool rather than a true desire to understand the terroir. He believes that in most cases all natural wines taste the same! He vinifies all his wines in the same way, using as little intervention as possible to allow the terroir of his different parcels to do the talking. Hope it catches your eye!
  • Most of us know Roald Dahl's novels, I for one have read them countless times. Firstly to my eldest and now, once in while I try with the middle one, even though he is still a bit young for those books. He is only 4 my wife says! They are just fun to read. To my surprise, after deciding to bring Château Méaume Bordeaux Supérieur to our Pinto Wines portfolio I came across that it was Roald Dahl's favourite wine and per his own words ''simply delicious''.  Well I could not put it better myself. It is a fantastic wine, with superb quality at this price point and what some would call a ''Big little wine.'' Unpretentious especially being French and carries a lot with it. It has a warm, expressive black fruits with a serious, rustic, spicy structure. A hint of exotic perfume on the nose, with a luscious, very ripe blackberry and damson palate.80% merlot, with cabernets franc and sauvignon adding a rich, chewy texture. Very more-ish, with freshness, and great balance.Château Méaume, owned by English couple Alan and Sue Johnson-Hill since 1980, is an historic property just 10 miles from the famous vineyards of St-Emilion and Pomerol. The 2016 Vintage is one of the best produced after the 2000's and critics were fast to praise the 2018. Cheers Roald!
  • Easy to drink and Portuguese through and through. Great companion to any celebration and can easily keep up. People pleaser is the word that comes to mind. Would suggest this one for weddings or any events, as it will deliver. Well priced and won't empty your pockets. Get it, enjoy it....responsibly obviously! Easy meals, canapes and cured meats with soft cheeses will go down well with this wine. Keep it confidential and do NOT tell anyone about this wine. It's our secret.
  • Gruner Veltliner is Austria’s most important indigenous grape and up until the 1990s it was relatively unheard of. Gruner Veltliner has many charms, one of them being the consistency of the quality and the flavour profile; it always delivers what it says on the tin. Ferdinand Mayr is a musician turned winemaker and his organic wines are singing with flavour and intensity. Whoever says Grüner Veltliner says Austria and vice versa. This version of Ferdinand Mayr is accessible and it charms you right away. Exuberant, lively nose of citrus, apple and white pepper. On the palate, the ripe fruit and spiciness create a pleasant tension with the acidity. Crispy and ripe, as if you were biting into a juicy apple. Flavor and spiciness characterize this wine. Fantastic with Japanese or Thai cuisine.

Craig and Carla Hawkins launched Testalonga in the north of Swartland, South Africa in 2008. They are part of a revolutionary ground swell taking place in South African wine, where traditions are being challenged and brave new territory is being explored. The painfully small amount of wine that this duo produces gets snapped up in short order the world over. Known for their striking intensity and nervy energy, Craig and Carla's wines are on the cutting edge of the natural wine movement in their country. This is the lightest, daintiest version of Carignan one could imagine. It's got more in common with, say a Jura rouge or something Cab-Franc-like out of the Loire Valley than a classic Rhone red. It's fresh, racy, filled with character and seasoned with a little wildness. Great with on summer afternoon, first courses, seasoned vegetables. Enjoy
  • The Champagne grower-producer Gaston Chiquet has made a name for itself as one of the best. In a region with thousands of small producers, it is a credit to owners Antoine and Nicolas Chiquet. Based in the evocatively named Dizy, the family first planted vines in 1746 but did not produce Champagne until 1935, when brothers Ferdinand and Gaston Chiquet took the bold step of setting up their own label, rather than merely selling grapes to the larger houses. Today they produce 15,000 cases a year. This is a classic aperitif Champagne. Deliciously light, crisp citrus and apple orchard flavours mingle with sundry red-berried fruit. It is beautifully plumped out in the middle, courtesy of Premier Cru Pinot Noir fruit from the evocatively named village of Dizy, ending with delicate toasty notes.

Keep On Punching is Swartland Chenin, but not in the conventional sense. No buttery oak, this is all 100% stainless steel tank to keep that citrus twang just as clean as a whistle.  Stylistically this wine fits more closely with the Chenins of the Loire valley - the fruit is apple and pear with some nice zippy white peach.  The grapes come from old bush vines that yield small clusters of grapes with great concentration and acidity year on year.  Craig's wines have a keen following, and for good reason. After travelling extensively in Portugal and Austria learning his craft, Craig Hawkins returned to South Africa and became the winemaker at top Swartland estate Lammershoek.  Craig now makes his own wines from various small, organic vineyard sites in Swartland and makes his wine naturally, with as little intervention as possible. If you like a bit of skin contact (& don't we all), try this!
  • Anyone that has been to Greece or has interest in wines have come by the grape Assyrtiko . In the last few years, wines from Greece, in particularly this indigenous grape, have gotten the status as a world-class wine and prices have begun to rise especially from the Santorini region. This Vegan Assyrtiko from the Lyrarakis estate is one of them and it is still in the affordable range and fortunately, your everyday Assyrtiko needs can still be catered for. Being from east Crete rather than Santorini means prices are still competitive. Think down the lines of getting a wine from the Touraine region rather than the heart of the Loire Valley. Lyrarakis on Crete are a brilliant winery with a focus on indigenous Greek varieties. Their rendition of Assyrtiko is broader and more approachable than some of the tightly-wound examples on Santorini, but it's no less drinkable for that.  It is in fact an ideal place to grow the white grape Assyrtiko. Both the Mediterranean breezes and the altitude of the Lyrarakis vineyards allows the grapes to have a much longer ripening period, preserving the grapes aromatics and acidity resulting in a wine with wonderful floral freshness, crisp citrus notes and a delicate mineral finish. Yamas!
  • This is a fantastic blend of Barbera and Nebbiolo sourced from younger vineyards within the area of production of the villages of Barbaresco and Barolo given the Langhe Appellation. Fragrant, lifted fruits of the forest overlaid by notes of dried herbs, some leather and aniseed. This is a medium bodied wine, very well balanced with plush fruit character, sandy tannins and a lovely fresh clip of acidity delivering excellent Italian drinkability. Very approachable wine that will match brilliantly with food as well being great on its own. I can only think of Pasta, pasta and Pasta. Pizza would work perfectly too! .
  • Michel Chapoutier created these wines to honor his great grandfather, Marius Chapoutier. Marius once said, “A good wine is one that beckons us to take another sip” and that is what Michel has accomplished with these wines. Marius Red is a wine that combines power, complexity and elegance. The Syrah endows it with warmth, robustness and a lovely bluish red hue. The Grenache brings a natural sweetness, balancing the whole structure of the wine. The harvest is done during the day: the natural summer heat by the beginning of the autumn is a great benefit for the maturity of the wine. The complexity, the elegance and the gourmet touch of Marius rouge are then revealed by their wine blending know-how. Serve it as an aperitif or with chicken liver on toast, beef carpaccio, roasted vegetables, lamb kebabs, veal, swordfish steak or goat cheese and dark chocolate at the end of the meal. Salut Marius!
  • Picaro means 'rogue' or 'rascal'. I have always called it the young lad, as they also have 'El Recio' (the middle aged man) which is Matsu's idea for a reserva wine and the Gran Reserva, 'El Viejo' (old man just in case you didn't know). Bodegas Matsu is situated in the Toro region, right beside the Rueda region (known for the famous Verdejos). Toro wines are predominantly made of Tinta de Toro (tempranillo in this area of Spain) and are well known to be a mouthful of strength and personality due to its poor soil and hot summers. These vines in particular are 90 years old and are cultivated using the biodynamic techniques. Although the more conventional wines of this region are quite sharp, Matsu's wine range has achieved smoothness and elegance. Additionally, the clever thinking behind the labels means that they cater to a wide audience. I would recommend this red any day of the week.
  • Mesta is a range of organically and sustainably grown single varietal wines, which stylishly showcase the Spanish wine revolution under the symbol of the Mesta. Mesta was a powerful alliance of sheep ranchers in medieval Castile, who controlled the cañadas: the traditional rights of way for migrating sheep. To this day the cañadas are protected from being blocked or built upon, a reminder of ancient rights and a model of coexistence with nature. This modern range, from the fashionable DO Uclés in central Castile, offers wines of great purity and varietal typicity.A versatile wine which accompanies spicy dishes perfectly, Asian curries, seafood risotto or a light salad with grilled prawns. Rosé wines are in fashion not just in the summer but also throughout the year, and this beautiful Mesta Rosé is a serious contender in the Rosé world. Especially at this price!!!
  • Palacio del Camino Real winery is located in the Najerilla Valley in Rioja. Isolated by the absence of railways and therefore the big wineries, the Najerilla Valley has maintained a tradition of small vineyards, consistently producing fruit of extraordinary freshness and quality. Palacio del Camino Real Crianza is a return to the essence of Rioja wines from the beginning of the 20th century in which Garnacha was the protagonist and a small percentage of white grapes could also be found. They are fresh, elegant, round and friendly wines. Palacio del Camino Real Crianza, is a red wine with an attractive ruby red color that impresses with its complex nose in which the nuances of its aging are perfectly integrated with the freshness and intensity of its chosen grapes. In the mouth it is a wine, it is a fresh, friendly, balanced wine with a long aftertaste.
  • Matsu, the Japanese word for 'wait', pays homage to the generations of devoted wine makers. The images of the real-life wine-producers decorate the bottle and represent the essence of each of the wines. Picaro means 'rogue' or 'rascal', and this rapscallion of a wine is a youthful interpretation of the Toro region's style. El Recio translates as 'the tough guy', and is a more serious, mature wine, made from the product of some of Toro's oldest vines. 'The Old One' of the Matsu range, made from the fruit of selected Tinta de Toro vines, averaging 110 years of age - presented in an original gift box.
  • Producing quality wines since 1920, Pegos Claros Estate Farm was responsible in the 90s for the production of wines which became national and international references of the best wines produced as DOC Palmela. Harvesting done manually followed by fermentation with traditional foot treading in open “lagar”, oak ageing and exclusively from old vines. Produced from autochthonous red grapes of Castelão from Palmela Region, Pegos Claros Reserva is a red wine that reveals itself with defined maturity, with well-marked black fruits aromas in its aromatic bouquet, balsamic notes, and spices. It is a complex red wine with good acidity and a very elegant structure. Pairs well with grilled meat and roasted fish and meat.

The Region of Rias Baixas is located in Galicia, Spain. All of their coast is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean giving huge impact on it's climatic characteristics, being very humid and fresh comparing to other parts of Spain. These conditions are perfect for a native grape of this northern area of the Iberian Peninsula(in Portugal is known as Alvarinho, mainly used for Vinho Verde), to thrive and deliver a fantastic wine. The Viña Almirante winery it's one of the most influential Bodegas in the region, whom had the foresight to start producing this grape over 70 years ago in the area of Val do Salnés. It's name(Pionero), comes from this vision ahead of their time producing this energetic and intense wine. With Jose Estevez at its helm, he drove sales up by focusing on the international market. The story of Viña Almirante begins with Jose’s grandfather, who owned a farm in Cuba which was taken by Crasto after the revolution. The grandfather and his son fled to Spain in the 1960s. Jose grew up in Rias Baixas and though working as a labor lawyer, always loved the farm and was a very talented home winemaker for years. So talented that people kept telling him to make it his full-time vocation. In 2002, when a beautiful hillside vineyard, owned by 2 spinster sisters, came up for sale, he found a partner and bought it. This was the realization of his dream, to go back to the land stolen from his family. He said it was a scary moment to dive into this new venture but he felt propelled by his family history, his dream and his love of the land; call it fate. He now owns 35 ha of vines, all on the slopes. Jose is totally hands on, producing about 7500 cases per annum.
  • There's a lovely off the beaten track mountain wilderness (salvaje means wild) to this old-vine Garnacha (aka Grenache), one of six under the the creative Vintae's Proyecto Garnachas banner that showcase the grape variety from old vineyards in different areas of the Ebro Valley in northeast Spain. Like Gamay and Zinfandel, the old vines of Grenache are a timeless wonder. They are the Clint Eastwood of vitis vinifera: gnarled by age with a tough-as-nails exterior and no sign of retirement on the horizon. What they lack in quantity, they make up for in quality: grape clusters from old-vine Grenache (think 60-100 years old) can create wines of supple fruit, spicy character and rocket-fueled energy. This one is no exception, the Salvaje vineyards lie on rocky soils at 820m above sea level, on the north face of the Moncayo massif mountain chain, where Navarra and Aragón meet and the Atlantic influence brings mouthwatering freshness and clarity to the generous raspberry, wild herb and pepper flavours this wine induces. It doesn't need food, but it's very accommodating: spot on with roast peppers, aubergine, tomatoes and onions and with spicy sausages such as chorizo. It would be equally good with roast root vegetables, slow-roast lamb or pork, baked spiced duck legs or a ham joint and would make a good barbecue all-rounder.
  • Some of you may have been lucky enough to visit Italy and have seen the amazing art and the cities and villages steeped in history. Italy is, and will always be that kind of destination where everything is out of this world. The art, the cities, the food (OMG, the food) and last but by all means not least, the wine!!! Yes of course we all have had a few Italian wines that weren't up to scratch, but generally they are hard to find unless you don't read the labels or you are really at a loss with them. As per anything Italians do, their culture and often their wine are connected to their history and the Italians take great pride in this (rightfully so). Torre dei beati is a pure example of that, as it translates as “Tower of the Blessed”, and takes its lead from a section of the large 14th century fresco adorning the church of Santa Maria in Piano at the base of the town’s hillside. The fresco features an interpretation of the Judgement Day, where a tower is the final goal for souls who have reached the after-life. And so it came to pass that the team at Torre dei Beati imagined this mythical tower to symbolise all that they aim to achieve in their efforts to create a wine typical of its locale and honestly made: though the journey may be tough and at first seemingly impossible, the end more than justified the means. The winery is owned and run by husband-and-wife team Adrianna Galasso and Fausto Albanesi. Fausto’s father-in-law, Rocco, planted the first Torre dei Beati vineyard in 1972 and handed over control in 1999 to the young couple who quickly converted the estate to organic farming in 2000, long before it became the hip thing to do. Although you can find in every Irish Restaurant Montepulciano(Grape) d'Abruzzo(The Region), most of these wines are somewhat of inferior quality due to the majority of the local winemakers focusing on quantity rather than quality. Here is quite opposite, with only the best bunches are hand-picked from the Loreto Aprutino vineyard to make this elegant Montepulciano. The wine is aged for 12 months, half in 3000l Slovenian oak casks, half in second-use French oak barriques. Showing complex fruit, lightly touched by spicy oak. Full bodied yet smooth; the finely balanced tannins work well with natural minerality and measured acidity for a lingering finish.
  • Imported from nearby Dalmatia, Susumaniello is one of the most important indigenous grape varieties of Brindisi. Its name (there are several theories) is due to the fact that, at a young age, in not recent times, the Susumaniello plant was particularly productive, so much so that it was overloaded with bunches as if it were a donkey. The name Verso Sud indicates the position of the vineyards, located in the southernmost area of the Ítria Valley, arriving in the province of Brindisi. Verso Sud Susumaniello has an intense ruby red color, with violet reflections when young that tend to garnet with aging, with a persistent aroma with hints of blackberry and cherry and sweet toasted notes. The flavor is soft, harmonious, long finish.  Red 'Clássico', ideal to accompany red meats, roasts, game. Excellent with aged cheeses, cured meats, sauces and parmesan. A very decent and great value alternative to the more northerly Amarone style of wine.
  • This lovely organic red is made from 100% Malbec (called Auxerrois in Cahors), ferments with indigenous yeasts, and ages in cement. This is a fruit-forward, easy-drinking style made for immediate consumption. And as soon as you pop a bottle, you'll see why "immediate" is the term they use. It's too tasty to wait, so enjoy it!

"I love you but I am thirsty" Great name that sticks to my mind with new grape varieties as a link between maritime freshness and southern exoticism. An explosive blend that gives an immediate and charming cuvée. The nose captivates with its aromas of white fruits and spices. The palate is round, full-bodied, generous. She lovingly embraces our taste buds for a tender moment of happiness and conviviality. Lovingly white, Lovingly good !!

The Chatelain family has worked the vineyards of Pouilly-sur-Loire since the 1630s. Today the family farm is run by Jean-Claude and Geneviève Chatelain, the 11th generation of winemakers from Domaine Chatelain. The grapes for Les Chailloux are grown on the St. Andelain Hill with its clay and siliceous soils strewn with pebbles and flint; the wine is aged ‘sur lie’ prior to bottling in the spring. Light yellow-gold; the wine is vivid, aromatic and minerally on the nose, followed by a spicy flint (silex) character on the palate.
  • Five generations of traditional winemaking from the estate of Roger Champault, modern thermoregulation techniques, and carefully chosen soil matching, have produced a Cuvee that is subtle at first, like the rising of a summer breeze, building in its complexity with wispy herbal notes and abundant florals that dance across the taste buds like wind through an apple orchard. Delicate, yet so very alive. This wine drinks with a lovely, masterfully structured liveliness and sweet, concentrated finish. Thanks to its abundant fruitiness, it is suitable not only for seafood and crabs but also for more abundant fish dishes; fried salmon, pike perch etc. Also suitable for light meat, especially poultry dishes.Curious note, Sancerre Les Pierris 2008 wine was served at the wedding dinner of Princess Victoria and Daniel of Sweden.

The Carminucci company, with its 90 years of history, is inserted in the wonderful wine landscape of the Marche, a region that gives powerful emotions thanks to its landscapes and a geographical conformation that allows it to have very particular climatic excursions. Kissed by the Adriatic and pampered by the hills, this region, rich in native vines and wine culture, offers a wine obtained from a blend rich in charm such as Rosso Piceno, which we tasted in its "superior" version. Montepulciano, combined with Sangiovese, ages in small and large barrels to bring to the table a product with marked minerality and softness, strength and structure, always sweetened by fresh notes that make it unique in its characteristics. The color is rich in anthocyanins, the light is unable to penetrate the richness of color of this red wine, but the first impact on the nose makes it less austere than you might imagine. Ample in its aromas of red fruit and slightly spicy in sweet notes, Carminucci's Rosso Piceno is a pleasant wine from the first sip for its authenticity and balance. If you leave it in your mouth for a moment, warm Mediterranean flavors emerge combined with a pleasant note of licorice, a balanced alcohol that has a strong but never invasive structure. Its harmony is given by the set of sensations and gustatory touches, a frank and very balanced wine, it combines the sapidity of the area with an acidity that leads it to be a long-lived wine with excellent resistance over time. Excellent with red meats or game.
  • Pecorino We will play with the Flowers of Torre dei Beati born in the vineyards located on the hills at the foot of the Gran Sasso, in the heart of the Abruzzo region. It is produced exclusively with Pecorino grapes, recently recovered in Italy as an ancient grape. The Pecorino is a native vine of poor productivity and great enological interest, which is deserving the attention of the fans. Torre dei Beati uses traditional and non-intrusive winemaking techniques. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, the wine ages in steel before being bottled. It is characterized by a straw yellow color with golden reflections. The nose is fine and elegant, with hints of pear and white flowers, rounded by pleasant honeyed notes and hints of medicinal herbs. On the palate it is soft and with an excellent balance between alcohol, acidity and minerality. The wine has a long lasting and stimulating finish. Perfect to accompany aperitifs, appetizers and fish dishes, it is ideal in combination with white meats and first courses.
